Review - Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5
Priced: Rs. ~ 44,800
The Tab S Flies High!!
It’s not just the same as any other tab available in the
market, leaving of course a few bloodline similarities with the other Galaxy
Tabs. Here is what I think the device is like:
This device looks like a super advanced device, right from
the future, thanks to the combination of the super-thin bezels, light weight and
gorgeous Super AMOLED display. In addition to these, a separate mention for
besting the already super slim thickness of iPad Air(7.5mm) at the extra
ordinary 6.6mm. Having said that, the Tab S, as a matter of fact, feels solid
to hold and to use i.e. there is no creaking or flexing.
The non removable Galaxy S5-like dimpled back and the gold
metallic surround, look and feels premium. Tab S has 2 slot, one each for a SIM
card and a micro SD card (capacity of up to 128GB supported). The touchwiz
interface is still there just like other devices from Samsung and has the multi
window interface with a little upgrade. You now can swipe in from the right
edge to pull up the app list.
Performance wise there is nothing lacking in the device. Everything
works perfectly smooth even when running Full HD video and another app like
facebook , side by side. The camera is good for close shots and in good light.
Not the best in the market but decent enough for a Tab.
Consciously priced just under the iPad(16GB Cellular), the
Galaxy Tab S offers a lot more than it does, i.e. 4G, calling, expandable
memory, USB host, better display, IR emitter, finger print sensor, lots more
bundled content and so on. The ones who love android would immediately see the
value and I think even the users of older generations of iPad should look at
this device if they plan a upgrade.
Verdict: ****1/2
Tab S is almost perfect and I would rate it at 5* but the
only concern is the lack of options. Not everyone would want to go for the
fully loaded cellular version with calling. The price could have been brought
down, had Samsung released a WiFi only model for user’s convenience to select
as needed. Other than that, Samsung could have pulled a number of customers who
now might go for cheaper versions of Apple iPads.
