Sony Xperia T3 comes to India!!

Sony Xperia T3 comes to India!! - A brief review

Priced: Rs. ~ 27,900

Sony just revealed a new Smartphone dubbed as the Xperia T3 in the international market last month and has now launched it in India as well. Here is a brief review of Sony’s latest offering.

It's an upper mid-range offering with a stainless steel frame and a 5.3-inch 1280 x 720 TRILUMINOS display with a pixel density of 277ppi. These specs don't seem all that great considering Sony appears to be pushing the screen as one of its main selling points.
Still, the build seems more promising, as not only does it have a premium edge but it's slim at just 7mm thickness and light at 148g.

Decent Specs:

The Sony Xperia T3 is decently powerful, thanks to a 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor and 1GB of RAM(RAM could have been better).
At the rare, it houses the 8MP camera featuring Exmor RS for mobile accompanied by a bunch of Sony's shooting modes such as Timeshift burst and Social live. The camera is also a major selling point in Sony’s Xperia line of devices. The Xperia T3 also packs a 1.1MP front facing camera and can record video in 1080p.
There's 8GB of storage to play with along with a microSD card slot and the phone runs Android 4.4 and supports 4G and NFC.
Rounding out the specs there's a 2500 mAh battery which Sony reckons provides a talk time of up to 12 hours and 46 minutes.

Verdict
All in all it doesn't sound bad, and feels good to handle but specs can be deceiving and to know it better a full on usage experience will be needed. Still, with this launch Sony is set to make some news soon.

Will come back with a full detailed review, soon.

Hrithik is 8th Person to train in Flyboarding

Hrithik is 8th Person to train in Flyboarding in the World

The USP of Bang Bang!, made under the direction of Siddharth Anand, is its huge canvas and Hrithik's stunts. During the shooting of this film Hrithik also went through a bad phase of life having met with a severe accident, a brain surgery and the separation from Suzane Roshan. He also let a couple of big films like "Shuddhi" and "Pani" go to other actors and has given his hundred percent into Bang Bang!. He has performed all the stunts by himself despite the injuries and the surgery. The most special stum of this movie is "Flyboarding Adventure sport". In this sport, machines that throw high pressure and push the person in the direction of his head and enable him to levitate, are tied onto the feet. Only after proper training one can be able to do it and Hrithik has done this in Bang Bang!. He is said to be the eighth person in the world to be trained in this adventure sport. While doing these stunts only he was advised to get the brain surgery done and rest for 8 months before resuming the shoot. HR although started shooting again in Delhi and Shimla after 2 months of rest.

Hrithik has said "I took the training because I wanted to do the stunt myself and just after this the unexpected happened. Time has passed but I have always believed that if one has the willpower then anything can be done. I, therefore went back to my routine and we shot rest of the action scenes. We are trying to present a new story and never before seen stunts to our viewers through Bang Bang!. I am trying to do my best in Siddharth's movie".
On Tuesday, a 58sec teaser of the film was released. Hrithik's hard work and the slick stunts are clearly visible in it.

This article is to translate a Hindi article on Bhaskar.com

Review - Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5

Priced: Rs. ~ 44,800

The Tab S Flies High!!

It’s not just the same as any other tab available in the market, leaving of course a few bloodline similarities with the other Galaxy Tabs. Here is what I think the device is like:

This device looks like a super advanced device, right from the future, thanks to the combination of the super-thin bezels, light weight and gorgeous Super AMOLED display. In addition to these, a separate mention for besting the already super slim thickness of iPad Air(7.5mm) at the extra ordinary 6.6mm. Having said that, the Tab S, as a matter of fact, feels solid to hold and to use i.e. there is no creaking or flexing.

The non removable Galaxy S5-like dimpled back and the gold metallic surround, look and feels premium. Tab S has 2 slot, one each for a SIM card and a micro SD card (capacity of up to 128GB supported). The touchwiz interface is still there just like other devices from Samsung and has the multi window interface with a little upgrade. You now can swipe in from the right edge to pull up the app list.

Performance wise there is nothing lacking in the device. Everything works perfectly smooth even when running Full HD video and another app like facebook , side by side. The camera is good for close shots and in good light. Not the best in the market but decent enough for a Tab.

Consciously priced just under the iPad(16GB Cellular), the Galaxy Tab S offers a lot more than it does, i.e. 4G, calling, expandable memory, USB host, better display, IR emitter, finger print sensor, lots more bundled content and so on. The ones who love android would immediately see the value and I think even the users of older generations of iPad should look at this device if they plan a upgrade.

Verdict: ****1/2

Tab S is almost perfect and I would rate it at 5* but the only concern is the lack of options. Not everyone would want to go for the fully loaded cellular version with calling. The price could have been brought down, had Samsung released a WiFi only model for user’s convenience to select as needed. Other than that, Samsung could have pulled a number of customers who now might go for cheaper versions of Apple iPads.

Khoobsurat Theaterical Trailer Review

Disney's Bollywood Maiden : Khoobsurat

Starring: Sonam Kapoor and Fawad Khan

'Khoobsurat' is Disney's debut bollywood production. It features the beautiful Sonam Kapoor playing the goofy, dreamy girl with Pakistani actor Fawad Khan playing the prince. The movie is known to be remake of the 1980 classic, Rekha starrer of same name.

There are remakes, rip-offs and inspired films. Although, Khoobsurat has been called as the remake of the 1980 RomCOm, it looks more like completely different with inspired elements in it. Being a Disney Production, it looks like quite different from the contemporary, its quite more colorful, Disney style!

The premise is new. It has gone royal and grand, this time around. Sonam Kapoor, in the role of a Physiotherapist who is clumsy, goofy, outspoken and as mentioned in the trailer - a royal misfit, is looking quite impressive. Comparisons will happen and she will be left far behind by Rekha's character in the original, but Sonam looks better than anyone would expect her to. Fawad Khan, debutante from Pakistan, looks like a prince, not just by the make up but he is carrying it well(as much shown in trailer). Well, hope he does not disappoint. Kiran Kher is the best bolly mom and she is rocking in the trailer too, as the techie mom - Manju.

Another puller is, that the extremely strict family headed by Dina Pathak, has been replaced by a royal family in the film, with Ratna Pathak as the matriarch.

Music sounds good with a rap tease(sounds like Badshah) and "engine ki seeti" which seemed to be the replacement of "Saare Bandhan".

Here is the trailer for you to have a look of what Disney is offering.

Although, it is not a Kick or Bang Bang! for the masses to go crazy about it, but the lovers of the original, Sonam Kapoor fans(if any) and RomCom enthusiasts have a treat coming their way. Its just a matter of time and we will know whether, Sonam Kapoor, after a series of duds, can pull it off this time or not.

The film hits screen on 19 Sept'14.

Leave your comments on what you think about the film!!

Priyanka in and as Mary Kom

Priyanka Chopra: The boxer

She has been a beauty queen, an actor, a performer and an amazing singer who has gained a big name in the international entertainment scenario. Well that all has passed. This time around, our very graceful Priyanka Chopra is all set to portray the role of Mary Kom.

The  first look posters of her next outing where she stars, in and as Mary Kom are out, and wow... she is stunning in them. At first look, you might not even realise its her. The aggression on the face, the fierce eyes, the confident posture and the toned muscular physique, all looks perfect with the hot hue tone used. 'She is promising and she will deliver' is written all over the poster.

Here is a poster for you to have a look:

For the ones amongst us who missed it, Mary Kom is a biopic film based on the life of a woman with same name, who, is an Indian boxer. She is a five-time World Boxing champion, and the only woman boxer to have won a medal in each one of the six world champion-ships. She is the only Indian woman boxer to have qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics, competing in the flyweight category and winning the bronze medal. She has also been ranked as No. 4 AIBA World Women's Ranking Flyweight category. On the personal front she is a homemaker and mother of two as well.

While the posters have boosted the expectations of many who are since long waiting for this one, we are yet to see how this one fares at the box office. The movie releases on 5th of September this year in a Cinema near you.

Priyanka Chopra has reportedly gone under some hardcore boxing training for the role. She also spent hell load of time with Mary Kom herself to know more about how she is in her personal life, as that is a major part to be portrayed in the film. Are we looking at bolywood's lady perfectionist? Well, I am sure no other actress in bollywood could deliver the intensity visible on Piggy Chops here.

They say its going to be an extravagant journey through a sports person's life and I can not wait to watch it.

My ratings for the poster:-  ****

Keep an eye here for more updates and reviews and do not forget to comment on how you found this post and what you feel about the Mary Kom biopic?

Bang Bang! Poster Review

BANG! Awesomeness 'posterised'

The uber cool Hrithik Roshan and the super hot Katrina Kaif, who are back together after their last outing in ZMND, are looking their best ever in the poster. It says by just the look of it "Make way for the most happening action romantic from bollywood's stable.

The poster looks fresh and new as far as the design is concerned. With cool blue background along with various actions snaps and smoking hot chemistry of the couple in the front(partly under water), the poster says a lot about the film and the genre it belongs, to those who have missed the news of Bang Bang! happening. The poster indeed is very promising about the visual quality of the film, which for sure is going to be a visual treat for the movie goers.

Here have a look:-

For them who don't know, Bang Bang! is the official Indian remake of the very successful, Knight and Day starring equally awesome(if not less), pairing of Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. Its on the way to Bang the box office near you on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, i.e., 2nd October 2014.

Will ZNMD's much appreciated lovers set the Box Office on fire again? Lets leave that on the time to tell. Meanwhile, keep an eye on the soon to come out, Bang Bang! trailer and more, right here!!

Poster Ratings : ****1/2

Please leave a comment below on how you liked the review and what you feel about the movie!!

Earlier in June, Fox Star India, also revealed the logo in form of a Teaser video. The animation and BG score in it is quite fascinating as well. This film looks to be a winner all the way.

Highway!!! Drags big time

After Jab We Met, Love Aaj Kal and Rockstar, one would go to watch Highway with high expectations. Well, that 'one' will be disappointed. There has not been a Highway, as slow as this one.

Starts with a kidnapping that turns into a beautiful vacation and then into inner awakening. The subject if treated well with more thrills or more gluing elements, this movie could have done well but other than the acts played by Randeep Hooda and Alia Bhatt,  there was nothing that could insist you to sit and watch the film through to the end.

The end could have been an hour earlier, or perhaps before that even. The experience of sitting there to watch this highway, was actually TIRING..
Imtiaz Ali chose the locations well but the screenplay is a fail.
There is no more I can say about this one at all.

Just for the acting by Hooda and Bhatt I will rate it at *1/2

What do you think about this film, please share.

Jai Ho!! Film Review

There have been a number of BMAs(Bollywood Masala Action) releases in the last half a decade. Normally they have a speciality.. They are pointless. When I usually go to see a BMA, I have very less expectations from the film in terms of content and I come back without disappointment.

Jai ho! does not disappoint, instead it has proven to be otherwise.. its not pointless. Instead, it instills in the audience the importance of extending a helping hand, the importance of charity and persuading others to do it as well. It does it the Salman Khan way. It no doubt is ridiculously action packed, but that is how Salman is.

Starts off with action and ends with victory.. thats not all for this one.. it is what is within.. it is about what the fight is for and how a guy who doesn't want it, gets into it.

Jai Agnihotri is a suspended army officer, living a peaceful life with his mother. He has a sister Geeta(Tabbu) who is married and is happy with her husband Rehaan(Mahesh Thakur) and a notorious, outspoken son. Jai witnesses a series of incidents that he can not ignore. He helps and wants others to help the needy. So much is he concerned that he wants to instill  humanity, the generosity in people. In the process, he gets, unknowingly involved in a fight.. against the system. How he fights and how he brings them down is the rest of the movie. Does the world change? Do people understand the charity network? Does his dream come to life? Find out for yourself.

Salman Khan is above his usual self. His roar is enough to run half the goons away. Tabbu is excelent. The kid Kabeer(Naman Jain) is amazing. The movie, could have been the same with any actress.. although, Daisy Shah is not too bad for the first film. Danny is the same as always. Loads of stars in the film that I never knew were in there and all have done well(Except Jai's mother, she irritated the soul out of me).Action is unreal but good to watch.

Watch it for your usual masala affair but you surely will take a message home.

Krrish 3 : Theaterical Trailer Review

Hello Everyone, I am here with my first review. There was a time when social issues, mindless comedies and romantic dramas were all that were churned out of the Hindi Film Industry or Bollywood if you prefer to call it that way. And then in 2003, Koi... Mil Gaya came out as a special effect science fiction film and took the industry by storm. It broke all the box-office records and for the second time Hrithik Roshan won 2 filmfares in the same year(first was for Kaho na Pyaar Hai). Following it came the sequel, Krrish(2006), the first actual superhero film from the Indian cinema. Success of Koi... Mil Gaya was surpassed and in the process Rakesh Roshan established the Sci-fi and Superhero genres in the industry. On August 5, 2013, the trailer of the most awaited film since last 4 years, Krrish 3, was launched.

The trailer right from the beginning pulls the audience's attention. Rohit(Hrithik), the genius father is seen holding an experimental gadget to utilise the solar energy and use it for the betterment of the world. But in a far land they say, there is an evil being born to rule the world. A laboratory with robotic arms shuffling chemical containers around and voice over by the villain Kaal(Vivek Oberoi) saying "Kaal ki qayanaat mein welcome"(welcome to Kaal's world). His voice is convincing as the super-villain. Cut to, A magneto kind of character attracting metal to stick to him, cut to, a hightech rocket launching and blast in night sky. Brilliant Vfx so far, no complaints or disappointments. Cut to, a female(may be Kangna Ranaut) jumping off a tall building and landing very smooth and swift, something like a cat-woman, beautifully executed. Again a sky blast and the magneto kind of guy and a mutant with a tongue like that of a frog. Cut to, A construction sight, very high ground in silence, swoosh lands Krrish(Hrithik), the first look of the hero with words fading in and out "one man has to battle like never before". Followed by a series of fighting in the air, mutant like characters,  superb stunts, engaging visuals. Must say, so far best looking vfx for an Indian film. Then there is a hint of romance between Hrithik and Priyanka and also father-son bond. I can see some changes in the costume there, for better of course.

Krrish 3's theatrical trailer attracts more than one could expect. Reveals some and conceals most, keeps you wondering and keeps you feeling that there is something in this film to go for. I haven't seen a trailer of a bollywood action film that had pulled me like this ever before. Ra.one had a brilliant one, but this one leaves it miles behind.

P.S: The review is not based on any sort of comparison with hollywood flicks and their vfx, as it would be unfair to do so when the films budget is just a tenth of whats theirs is. The trailer might be disappointing if you  are one of those who do make comparisons between the two film industries.

Here have a look and decide:

Please let me know how you liked the review, to help encourage and improve my future work.
